I post a lot about vineyards across Eastern Europe that are worth a visit but unfortunately, all too often, it is difficult to get hold of the produce in the UK.  However, Waitrose currently stock a wonderful, dry, crisp, white Hungarian wine.  It’s perfect for easy drinking, cooking or served with light meats, poultry etc. or fish.

Easy drinking and fruity white from the Hungarian hills.

Made from some of Hungary’s best white varietals, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Királyleányka, and specially blended for an easy fruity style. The winemaker, Eva Keresztury, has given her name to this wine made especially for Waitrose.

   1 -“some of Hungary`s best white warietals”?

   Try furmint, juhfark, olaszrizling, keknyelu…

   2-There is a winemaking company called hilltop which exports 6 million bottles /year to the uk`s supermarkets (morrison, somerfield, cooperative, waitrose), so they have to call there wines in different names in different supermarkets, eva + especially = waitrose…

   Hi, thanks for the comment. I met one of the Hilltop representatives at the International Wine Festival last year. It was really interesting talking to them. I’ll look into furmint etc. Thanks for the tips! And thanks for checking out the site.

   Hi!

   If you are interested I can recommend other wines from Hungary to try as well.(Actual wine,wintage, maker etc) Do you ever travel there? Apart from Waitrose where do You buy (hungarian) wine in the UK?
   (I`m a hungarian, working in wine for waitrose).
