As well as showpiece events dotted around the Polish capital of culture, dozens of smaller, more intimate performances will take place to satisfy all jazz tastes. Cafes, bars and clubs are all set to open their doors and embrace the festival.

Artists from around the world will be in Krakow for the event appearing alongside some of Poland’s top musicians.  The inaugural Summer Jazz Festival was held in 1996 during celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Piwnicy pod Baranami and has since gone from strength to strength.

Every year the festival includes about 50 concerts, with 200 artists from Poland and abroad attracting up to an incredible 30000 spectators.  In 2001 the Festival prize of Jazzowy Baranek was granted to exceptional performers and to date the laureates include:

Jerzy “Duduś” Matuszkiewicz (2001)
Andrzej Kurylewicz i Wanda Warska (2002)
Wojciech Karolak (2003)
